Let’s Get Behind Our Farmers
Creating a cycle that supports hyper-local farmers while helping sustain neighbors experiencing food insecurity.
FARMore WA will host a Free Food Pantry on select Sundays at the Ballard Farmers Market. We will be purchasing food directly from family farms at the market to stock the pantry, along with community donated food that will help meet the diverse cultural and accessibility needs of our neighbors.
We’re living through a time when some of our most basic needs, including food, healthcare, fuel, and simply having enough to put on the table, are feeling harder to meet. So we’re coming together.
With growing concerns about food safety in large-scale commercial food systems, knowing where our food comes from matters. Buying directly from local farmers keeps more food dollars in our communities while helping us stay connected to the people who grow our food.
Here’s how you can help:
Volunteer at the pantry and help get good food into the hands of our neighbors.
Help spread the word by sharing pantry dates and information with your community.
Donate shelf-stable foods to help fill the gaps between fresh food distributions.
When we support our farmers, we support the safety of our food, our health, and each other. Let’s get behind them.
This project is funded in part by a Food Equity Fund award from the City of Seattle’s
Department of Neighborhoods.
